PUBLIC WORKS | OC ENGINEERING: OC Flood and OC Roads are focused on two of the department's core services; maintaining public safety through the planning and design of a system of flood control facilities that protects the region from flooding, and a network of roads and bridges that facilitates the safe conveyance of people and goods throughout the County. They are supported in this effort by the other four sections of OC Engineering which are OC Inspection, OC Operations & Maintenance, and OC Survey.
OC SURVEY: The mission of the OC Survey division is to provide quality surveying and mapping services which enhance the public welfare and support the OC Public Works Department's mission and to provide these services in a courteous and professional manner.

OC Public Works is looking for a Surveyor III who:
*Openly seeks to mentor and share valuable skills and information with subordinates and others
*Reviews, interprets and conveys verbally, information concerning subdivision maps, records of surveys, right of way maps, construction plans, design plans, survey notes, and legal descriptions to others in a professional manner
*Professionally and effectively communicates with engineers, construction inspectors, surveyors, developers, contractors, and the general public in a respectful and courteous manner

OC Public Works has an excellent opportunity for a Surveyor III to perform a variety of surveying and mapping related tasks under the direction of a licensed land surveyor. These tasks include using computer equipment and software for survey map preparation, boundary analysis, data collection, and correspondence; researching existing historical and official records, including but not limited to survey notes, miscellaneous maps, records-of-survey, and deeds; performing graphic editing of digital data in a CAD environment; and other duties as required.
