LS License

Post by TTaylor »

Does anyone else have a license that contains incorrect information? I received my license in 1999 and it states, "This is to certify that pursant to the provisions of Chapter 7, Division 3 of the Business and Professions Code Thomas Taylor is duly licensed as a Land Surveyor?

Chapter 7 is the PE Act. Our Act is Chapter 15.

Am I the only one?

I'm looking at 4 different ones (1992, 1994, 1995, 1997) and they all state Chapter 7, Division 3 of B & P.

That's an interesting catch... Looking at the B & P Code for those eras they all should state Chapter 15, Division 3 of B & P Code if you're being licensed as a surveyor, is how I read the act. The 2011 certificates state Chapter 15.

Also 1999, and you are not alone....

2000 and 2001 also appear to be Chapter 7.

Sounds like you all need a new certificate with a different Executive Officer's signature on it :)

(Note: mine (1996) says Chapter 7 also. Ray's (1989) is Chapter 15)

Looks like Rick corrected the error when he moved into the Ex. Director position, right? (I would take credit for it if I were you.)

Someone caught the mistake at the Board circa 2004

Post by Steve Martin »

One of my guys received his license in 2005 and it say Chapter 15, so someone caught it at the Board and corrected the mistake in the early 2000's

So Ric, fellow classmate of 1996, were are our corrected certificates?

Mine was issued in 1996, but had to get a replacement certificate around 2000. It says Ch 15.

And from the "Class of 90"

They must have used all of the Chapter 15, Division 3 certificates on the 275+/- of us and ran out. Mine says 15 so they made it to the "S"s.

Chapter 15, March 1984.

The only gripe I have about my license is that they used a calligrapher to write the names that year. The calligraphy lacks the gravitas and consistency of the other lettering on the document, and it's fading badly almost 30 years on, even though it's behind glass and not in direct sunlight.

(Bruce - did we have all 15 chapters way back then? :) )

Anyone that wishes to replace their current certificate that has the incorrect Chapter on it with a new one, please send in your current certificate (required) with this form: http://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/pubs/forms/licreplace.pdf and we will waive the replacement fee.

Make sure you check the box entitled "Clerical Error" and write somewhere on the form "CHAPTER CORRECTION"

Professional Engineer

Post by LS 4722 »

I took the test the same day Bruce Hall did, I think he is the one that swiped my coffee when I fainted at all the questions I had to answer...

I forgive you Bruce..

I was sent a pocket license that was red/white/blue in color. On the front side it had L004722, and on the back, in big blue old english lettering.."Professional Engineer"..

I had a lot of fun with that pocket license.
