I Agree. It doesn't look good.

Get a bunch together and raise Holy He@@ with the legislature about this.

This is what happens when you defund government. The citizens will no longer have access to records that their taxes created in the first place.

as you were

Not dead. It is on Brown's desk waiting for a signature. There was a movement in the Assembly to vote to submit a bill to Brown without the changes to the PRA, but that bill was killed. Brown will sign this. We, the public, will probably need to get a ballot measure for a constitutional amendment to overturn this.

Not sure why the State has to reimburse local agencies for release of public records, but typical of the elected crooks to sneak something into a bill at the last minute.

They continue to screw the public while doing nothing to curtail the out of control salary, benefit packages and retirement for govt employees.

When unfunded liabilities exceed 50%, and in some cases 75%, of local agency budgets something is drastically wrong with employee pay and benefit packages.

I continue to be amazed that no one addresses the conflict of interest when elected, who receive campaign funds from govt employee unions, approve govt employee union contracts.
Defund govt
To fully fund govt first the national debt would have to be paid. The US Govt is $18 TRILLION in debt, using 350 million people in the USA it would require $51,000 from every man, woman and child to pay it off. And that's just the Federal debt. Did you write your check yet?

Looks like they got the message.

Now they plan to put through a constitutional amendment to the voters next June to make the local agencies pay for the cost of requests, rather than the state reimbursing the costs. I think that is right.
