Safeway can't sell me gas for 3 cents cheaper because they got sued for some sort of unfair trade practice complaint.

Giving me discounts in 10 cent increments as a reward for shopping there is still okay, apparently.

The next time I do a lot survey it will be for enough money to retire in style.

The post (#27) containing a link to rates in this thread has been removed over continued concern for liability to the CLSA in regards to any inadvertent violations of the Antitrust law. Some members/forum participants may not agree with the removal of the post. CLSA has requested and received a legal opinion on this matter, which will be discussed at the upcoming Board of Director’s meeting on July 27th.

I would think that to be a reasonable request after the CLSA Board has had the opportunity to review and discuss it relative to this thread and the deleted one.

The legal counsel opinion will be reviewed by the CLSA Board of Directors at the July 27th meeting. Dissemination of this opinion will be considered by the Board of Directors.

Dissemination of the legal opinion should not have to be considered, it should be a given. Based on CLSA's actions on this thread and the response of the President, I may think twice about renewing my membership next year.

I for one, have always felt that it was the responsibility of EACH Director to accurately and concisely disseminate any and all information discussed during the Board of Director meeting to their respective chapters. It has always baffled me, especially now that I have had the opportunity to attend a few Director meetings, how Directors can summarize the happenings of a very long day into a 3 minute oral report or less than one page written report to the chapters.

As the current President mentioned, this is one topic that will be included on the agenda for presentation to, and discussion with, the Board of Directors for action as the entire Board of Directors deems appropriate. While I understand the comments from pls7809 and bwatkins, I believe it is more appropriate to "direct" these concerns to one of the Directors responsible for your chapter. If any member believes that their concerns are not being addressed, I believe that the Board of Directors and the Executive leadership would be more than happy to hear directly from you either at the meeting or any other acceptable means of communication.

After all, that is why they are referred to as Directors. So they can "direct" the officers and leaders of the organization...so they are "directing" communication to/from the membership/executive leadership.

Not at all clear. "Can raise antitrust concerns if..." is not the same as "constitutes an antitrust violation."

Yes, it does seem clear to me after reading FTC guidance in depth, that the discussions being held earlier in this forum very well would be viewed as a violation and subject to action.

Woodcutter and I disagree on the subject, and I'm content to leave it at that.

The real focus of this thread -- for me, anyway -- is the policy under which posts are removed without the originator's consent. I'm hopeful that the upcoming Board meeting will lead to the development and implementation of a policy that's comprehensive, fair and accountable.
