California Geodetic Control Working Group Outreach

Post by Sunburned_Surveyor »

I'm helping out with the strategic plan being prepared by the California Geodetic Control Working Group. My particular assignment is to flesh out the section of the strategic plan that discusses the geodetic community in California. I'm trying to provide the following information about organizations in California:

1) A brief description of the organization.
2) A summary of how the organization uses and maintains geodetic control.
3) Analysis on how the organization might support or integrate a statewide geodetic control framework.

I've already got some good information on several organizations that was provided by my fellow working group members and through my own limited research. However: I want to provide an opportunity for other organizations to have their input included in this section of the strategic plan. This would include cities, counties, ports, utility companies, and private companies.

Please shoot me an e-mail to sunburned.surveyor@gmail.com or lblake@ksninc.com if you want to have information about your organization and its use of geodetic control included in the strategic plan.

I'm also looking for contacts with the US Forest Service and BLM in California that might offer some input. These are important federal agencies that manage a large amount of land in California, and I think they should be included.

Thanks so much for whatever help you can provide. The strategic plan will benefit greatly from input from various types of organizations around our state.

Coming Soon to a Webcast or Chapter Meeting

It is also important to note that the Geodetic Control Workgroup has an Outreach Subcommittee currently working on a series of brief presentations on the State, Applications, Sustainability and Future Aspects of Geodetic Control in California.

The presentations are designed to update the land surveying and geospatial communities and to elicit feedback prior to submitting recommendations to the CA GIS Council.

Look for them soon in a Chapter Meeting or Webinar near you..........
