Ian: It's in your in-box. I agree it is a big undertaking and I am not sure when I will find the time. But, having written quite a bit of the CT Surveys manual and worked on many billion dollar plus projects I think I can provide a unique perspective on the subject.

The Board has a list of suggested references on their website for the State exam:

It contains a couple of other options for books on GPS.

In addition to the references on the Board's web site. I rely on "GPS for Land Surveyors" by Van Sickle and "Global Positioning System: Signals, Measurements, and Performance" by Pratap Misra and Per Engle.

Most of my GPS education came from reading research documents published by Soler, Snay and others from NGS as well as other institutions and my own experiences.

Attached is a series of articles written by Dr. Richard Snay and Dr. Tomas Soler of NGS on modern terrestrial references systems that provides some good background for those interested in learning about GPS and the Reference System. I had included these in the handouts for the GPS & Geodesy session at the 2010 CLSA Conference LS exam review program. NGS makes these freely available on their web site, so there is no copyright issue.

I had also included in the CD handouts selections from a series of articles from the late 90's by Dr. Jim Reilley which cover GPS and Geodesy concepts very well. POB gave me permission to use them for educational purposes.

There were also some GPS Standards and Specifications and a few other articles that are pertinent. Let me see if CLSA still has that information available to members.
