The Survey Party Chief will efficiently organize and maintain field survey crew to complete project tasks. The Party Chief will accurately calculate and record field data, review job specifications, plan fieldwork methods, and manage time to coincide with budgets.

Position Responsibilities
• Organize and maintain field survey crew efficiently in completing specific jobs
• Review job specifications and plan field work methods and costs
• Operate and maintain technical surveying instruments, vehicles, and equipment to accomplish related work assignments
• Surveying assignments are performed for any size project, at any location as required
• Measure and establish geodetic baselines using GPS equipment and accepted GPS procedures
• Measure horizontal and vertical distances using an electronic distance measuring device (total station) and a data collector
• Perform construction surveys in which it may be required to set offset stakes to define horizontal and vertical positions of proposed improvements within the construction site
• Perform ALTA, boundary, and topographic surveys
• Provide location and construction surveys for underground pipes and other facilities
• Performing alignment surveys for tunnels, machinery, tracks, roadways, and other critical facilities
• Provide topographic surveys to be used in earthwork calculations
• Provide calculations and records in support of all survey activities
• Perform specialty surveys such as facility settlement and structural deflection

Position Requirements
• Associate degree in Surveying or high school diploma and equivalent work experience
• 5 years’ experience as a Surveyor; 3 years in a supervisory capacity
• Valid insurable California driver’s license
• Strong math and analytical skills
• Experience with electronic survey instruments
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• LSIT or PLS preferred
