I wish I could share in some of the excitement.

I will be posting information next week pertaining to the recent shenanigans. Is there any particular detail or topic of interest? If you hear something through the grapevine, please take the time to ask for evidence and/or proof-it gets pretty thin. Again, pick a topic.

I am off to the OCCLSA-CalPoly Pomona surveyor's conference. I am looking forward to the discussion of practice based issues.

I don't see anyone winning. This whole thing seems like a lose-lose-lose situation.

I will say that if anyone wins, it's the one, or ones, who say "I'm sorry."

That may sound all too simple, but I believe it's true. Many of the men in my church went through a three year fellowship series called Men's Fraternity. One of the most difficult, but simplest, concepts was "die a little to live a lot." The gist of it had to do with apologizing to your wife (dying a little) in order to have peace and harmony and earn her adoration and respect (live a lot).

I will tell you that this is a very difficult thing for me as it is for most men, perhaps women too. This idea of saying "I'm sorry" when I have no natural inclination to do so. The thing is, I can't fake it. I can't say it without meaning it ... and generally speaking I don't even want to mean it. Sorry? Not me. It's not my fault!

And then I ponder. And I realize that saying "I'm sorry" (and yes, a little piece of me dies when I do that) will get me to a better place with my spouse in which I can truly make amends and go on with life in a good way. Am I weak for apologizing? Or am I strong? Does it matter?

There are more important things in life than pride. Saying "I'm sorry" may sting at first, but it's an important step towards progress.

I think there are probably many apologies in order after 3-4 years of bickering in the board of directors. And I'm not intentionally pointing the finger at any one person or group.

Who wins? In my opinion, the one(s) who show contrition and ask forgiveness. I hope that there is a spirit of humility and reconciliation at the BOD meeting on Saturday. I also realize there is a lot worth fighting for. This is really a tough situation for everyone.

That's my two cents.

P.S. For the record, I am opposed to the expulsion of Dave Woolley - I think it would be bad for our profession and absolutely horrible for CLSA

Just a thought. Follow your conscience when voting on expulsing someone from your Association. A "yes" vote does have consequences.
