What is a forum

I have always believed that the forum was provided as a benefit for members of CLSA. I believe it is 100% funded by CLSA and my dues. What I don't understand is why it is not open for full viewing. The notion that the administrator has created a forum inside of a forum for a private organization baffles me. If anyone is interested in the forum they should become members of CLSA. This is pretty straightforward. I would like to see what the various committees are doing. I do not think I should contact a director and then wait three months to get a reply.

Do you believe the entire forum should be members only and that all topics should be open?

I agree wholeheartedly, Michael . . .
However . . . at times it is absolutely embarrassing how some of us conduct ourselves (me included). That said - John Q. Public is in here all the time . . . (I speculate attorneys visit here and some of the banter is not of "the highest standards" of professionalism. Like the last CLSA Board meeting: when our dirty laundry was laid before the feet of a NSPS visitor. "That" topic should have aired at another time without the presence of an NSPS guest. Oh well.)

That's what I'm talking about - certain things J.Q. should not read on the forum. It makes us look like we are The collection of disfunction.

Hi William, Thank you for your comment. Would you consider running your own poll? It would be of immense benefit to those who are interested as to any thoughts you may have on this topic. My objective is to gauge the pulse of participants. How would your poll be phrased?

since the poll limits the response. I think the forum should be only for CLSA members, but the subforums should be left as is.

Your answers don't match the question. Are you asking should the public be allowed access (which is also the subject of the other poll) or that some forums should remain restricted to specific persons, e.g. the County Surveyor's forum.

My preference is that current account policies remain unchanged, and allowing the new
Members Only forum to be restricted.

PS: I do believe there should be a Public Forum (moderated), but what we have going here now is not suitable for public viewing.
there was a time a few years ago when people were professional, polite, and respectful, and there were no Trolls. Now it has flip flopped.

other forums that I follow are open viewing to anyone. But only members are able to post and view attachments. Anyone can join as a member, not just a select few.
