The Registrar of Voters, a nationally recognized and award-winning agency, is responsible for conducting elections, verifying petitions and maintaining voter records in the County of Orange, the fifth largest voting jurisdiction in the United States with 1.4 million active registered voters. The department receives funding from the County's General Fund and periodic reimbursement from the federal government, the State of California and local jurisdictions. The department is responsible for all components of election management, including voter registration, poll worker and polling place recruitment, ballot creation, voting system security, ballot processing and vote tallying, community outreach and education, and candidate services such as candidate filing and campaign finance.

THE OPPORTUNITY Orange County Public Works has an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented, technically skilled Cadastral Technician to perform critical mapping duties in order to successfully meet the mapping and precinct duties required for an election.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical experience in data analysis, computer software application with CAD/GIS knowledge and experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Preparing and revising maps to show accurate boundaries, configuration to reflect precinct areas through the use of CAD/GIS software.
Interpreting legal descriptions, tract and parcel maps, other related documents.
Recording changes in street names and addresses and manage records and files of proposed tract maps.
Assisting with research for district boundaries and revisions.
Conducting extensive title searches on issues of property ownerships.
Applying current codes and laws to make revisions/corrections to existing and/or new maps.
Must be able to work under very tight deadlines and have flexibility to work until the completion of each project.
