Oaths for Field Crews

Have any of you ever administered oaths to your field crew members, as described in Section 8760 of the California Business and Professions Code?:

I attended a talk at the conference on parol evidence, and I've been thinking more about when this is appropriate. Let me know if you've ever done it, and if you are willing to share details. I'd also be interested in forms or templates you used for the oath or the record-of-survey memorializing the oath.

The memorandum shown on the RS was really just a restatement of the oath taken and a statement that the record of the oath is located in the field notes of Project No. XXXXX, Dated XXXXX, and sworn by XXXXX with a signature by the party swearing the oath.

Personally, I wouldn't see the need to take an oath from a field crew working for me as they are working under my direction. But I just now saw the language in 8760(c), which I hadn't noticed before. Did the speaker give any examples where that might come into play?

many years ago as a condition of USFS contract, we admin. Oaths to the field crew and noted in the field notes. USFS supplied the template. Sorry but too much time has past to remember the details.

The assistants' oaths that I have seen are along the lines of:

"I will faithfully execute my duties as chainman to the best of my abilities" - attested to by the Surveyor.

I see that the statute refers to situations where the importance of the survey makes it desirable to administer an oath. Something along the lines of retracing a County boundary pursuant to resolutions of each Board of Supervisors.
