Can a Corner Record be filed if the original PM was record data?

1968 Parcel Map based on record data

can a corner record be filed ? or will this automatically need a Record of survey ?

As always - it depends.

You can certainly file a corner record based on the compiled-from-record-data PM - provided there is no material discrepancy. The record dimensions in this case would be the underlying map(s) used for the PM. If you are retracing one of the parcels, the reestablishment of interior corners is dependent upon the measured values between found exterior monuments.

It's gonna be a judgment call.

I believe the standard CLSA contract has language to protect you if field conditions trigger the filing of a ROS on a project you thought a CR would work.

I still quote this separately and make sure the client is aware of it and many times they want to exclude this item. Not happening.
