Acts of Fraud

Post by mpallamary »

Many years ago, when I had my surveying and engineering business, I was offered a bribe to falsify some engineering reports. I refused and was then falsely sued by the contractor. I was then physically threatened and I worked with the FBI to take down the bad guys. It was quite the thing. I testified as the federal government's chief expert witness and we nailed the bad guys for massive fraud of about $7M. I worked with law enforcement and others and went into meetings wired under surveillance. A friend of mine asked me about the case and I did some research and I came across a massive federal fraud case involving the Iraqi War. In the case, I was cited as part of the legal arguments regarding fraud. That was pretty cool to see. if you find this stuff interesting, you can check the case out here. In spite of the threats, FBI protections, and undercover work, we made it through. The moral of the story is, do the right thing no matter what they offer you or threaten you with!
