Mapping Question

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen, or are familiar with MISCELLANEOUS MAPS or MISCELLANEOUS SURVEYS?

Does anyone know if they have a basis in any kind of law or ordinance?

The official map of the City of San Diego Pueblo Lands is a Miscellaneous Survey. See attached.

I suspect that each County Recorder has latitude to name Books of filed maps.

For example, Ventura County files final maps in Miscellaneous Records (Maps). Tuolumne County used to file in Plat Books, and now in Subdiviisions.

You may want to read through a book titled Guide to the County Archives of California published in 1919. The book has general history of records and an inventory of the records held by different offices at all the counties in California at the time.
