The good ole days . . .
Last weekend I attended a memorial of a family friend who was a dairy farmer.
At the memorial I met a gent whose last name I recognized. I ask if he had a father, George.
He exclaimed, “Yes! That was my father!”
I shared that his father gave me my private pilot check-ride in 1967. He was in awe of the coincidence of this living person (me) knowing his father. I went on to share that his father promoted general aviation by writing a weekly column in the local rag. (Something our profession could/should do to promote itself?)
One such article was the construction of a new airport at Cloverdale in 1949. (Attached)
This day ‘n age you couldn’t install a toilet paper dispenser in less time it took to build this airport.
Oh! The good ole days!
Just for fun . . .
