Getting back to the subject of the original post, is a City responsible for unrecorded points set by surveyors licensed since 1985?
(I've always been glad to tie out old, old survey tags. I just did LS 1768 this past week.)
If the surveyor isn't proud enough to file his Corner Record, why bother perpetuating it?

Dave, if you want an answer to whether a City, or any public agency, is responsible for compliance with the PLS Act, you need to contact the Board. Just email Dallas with the information you know and he will help you. Odds are just about every land surveyor will say yes, because land surveyors believe in preserving monuments and the locations. But the Board is the only entity authorized to make that determination.

There is a lot here that's simply counter productive to comment on. With respect to Mr. Sweeny I'm not seeing where he was refereed to as the end all in Land Surveying opinions, with the exception of a quote that could be misconstrued, made by a public service employee that actually communicates and attempts to help the private sector, "That’s the best answer you’re going to receive and one the agencies will have to listen to. This was a direct response to the original post, from the RS seminar I attended last summer I gathered one of this gentleman's tasks was contacting City and County officials with a .dca.ca.gov tag behind his name regarding these situations and he seemed very passionate about it. Mr. Lindell contact the board, 8771(d) makes no distinction between, prods, something in a curb or centerline intersections, the agency is responsible for assuring their contractor perpetuate anything they potentially are going to destroy.
