The County of Riverside’s Flood Control and Water Conservation District has an opportunity for a Senior Survey Technician position who will be assigned to the Right of Way section of the Surveying and Mapping division in Riverside.

This position will perform complex office surveying work, interpret legal descriptions of real property, and make and interpret survey calculations. The incumbent will research, analyze, check, and adjust survey data; research and compile evidence and documentation for boundary determination; assist in planning, directing, and coordinating the work of a group of survey right of way engineering personnel. Additionally, the incumbent will do mapping and drafting, prepare clear and concise reports, and write property descriptions.

The department seeks applicants with thorough knowledge of local surveying principles as outlined in the California Professional Land Surveyor's Act and ability to perform complex office surveying work. The most competitive candidates will be those with demonstrated ability to effectively lead and supervise staff in dynamic and difficult situations, desire to develop and train crew members, and strong intrapersonal skills to communicate with other County staff and contractors. Applicants with experience surveying for a government entity and experience with Civil 3D and MicroStation drafting platforms are highly desired.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
OPTION I
Experience: Five years of increasingly technical and responsible sub-professional land surveying experience, at least one year of which must have been at a level equivalent to a County of Riverside (Survey) Engineering Technician II. (College courses from an accredited college or university in subjects to the assignment such as land surveying, soils erosion, soils testing, blueprint reading, mathematics, computer graphics, or hydrology may substitute for up to two years of the non-specialized experience on the basis of 12 semester or 18 quarter units equaling one year of the required full-time experience.)

OPTION II
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in surveying engineering or civil engineering.

Experience: One year of sub-professional land surveying experience, equivalent to a County of Riverside (Survey) Engineering Technician II.

OPTION III
Certificate: Valid Certificate of Registration as a Land Surveyor-in-Training issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.

Experience: Two years of sub-professional land surveying experience.
