At Hogan Land Services you will be working with some of the best in their field with over 50 years of combined experience. Our Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) position is designed to give you the training and mentoring for licensure. Let us help you become a PLS.

$30.00 - $45.00 per hour

As a Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT), your Duties and Responsibilities include:

Travel to locations and use known reference points to determine the exact location of important features
Beginning to end communication with client
Conduct record research and draft records
Prepare Calcs. for field work
Download and analyze data
Draft maps for Record of Surveys, Lot Line Adjustments, Subdivisions, ALTA’S, and Topographic Maps
Draft legal descriptions
Perform field work
Required Skills and Abilities:

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Work well in a team environment and perform assigned duties independently.
Have the ability to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and project team members.
Highly motivated, articulate, and self-starting.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Outlook, and use of Computer-Aided Design software (AutoCAD, etc.).
Use GPS and conventional field equipment
Education and/or experience:

Bachelor of Science in Surveying or Geomatics Engineering (preferred, not required)
LSIT Certification - Deal Breaker
Two years of postsecondary (college-level) land surveying education (preferred, not required)
Physical Requirements

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer, printer, fax, phone; to occasionally operate a motor vehicle; vision to read printed materials and computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Survey Technicians lift and carry equipment, drive stakes into the ground, and walk for long periods of time, all of which requires physical fitness. The position requires a capacity for strenuous physical effort such as walking and climbing over steep terrain. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may work in the field and occasionally be exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Field work is sometimes performed in a physical environment where the terrain may be steep, uneven, rocky and covered with thick tangled vegetation. Employees may occasionally interact with frustrated clients, neighbors, or public agencies

We are a well-established professional Land Surveying company and we are seeking a Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) for our Santa Cruz office, this position requires a L.S.I.T. Certificate.

We offer a competitive benefits package including health benefits, retirement plan, paid holidays, and Alternative Work Schedules, Five 9 hour days one calendar week and Four days in the other calendar week. Eight of the shifts are nine hours and one is eight hours, with every other Friday off.
