I am saddened to share the news of the passing of Chuck Safford. He was one of the greatest influences on me when I attended Mesa College back in the 1970's where Chuck taught the classes for the engineer's union. He was a man of distinction and a gentleman of the highest order. Many of us in Southern California learned from him. One of the greatest impressions he made on me was to always carry myself as a professional. Chuck epitomized all the greatest attributes of a true professional.
RIP my old mentor. Thank you for your contributions to the profession.

Re: Chuck Safford
Chuck was one of my mentors also. I took classes from him also at Mesa Collage preparing to take my LS exam in 1977. Years later, I reviewed one his R of S’s for the San Diego County Surveyor’s Office and had questions regarding his survey procedure. Chucks response was “where did you learn that; I didn’t teach it to you?” Chuck and I did not always agree on things, but we were always friends. RIP my friend.
