I received an email invitation to learn more about the California Underground Safety Board's new GIS initiative - perhaps this was sent out to all licensees, but thought I'd share here to reach anyone that may have missed it.
"The Underground Safety Board is excited to introduce our new Geographic Information Systems (GIS) initiative to enhance worker and public safety and foster collaboration among stakeholders. Your expertise and engagement is invaluable as we work together to create safer environments through GIS innovation. The Board’s GIS Mapping Committee is releasing a survey to gather information about mapping buried infrastructure, including use of GIS software, from utility operators. We invite you to be a part of this effort by signing up for our email subscription list."

"The Underground Safety Board’s Geographic Information System (GIS) Mapping Committee is soliciting survey responses from operators about mapping buried infrastructure, including use of GIS software.
Accurate and up-to-date maps of buried infrastructure are crucial to ensuring efficient operations and safeguarding workers and communities throughout California. With this survey, we seek a broader understanding of current adoption of GIS for creating digital maps and best practices. Your input plays a vital role in shaping the future of buried infrastructure management as the Underground Safety Board begins discussions on potential laws and safety standards for mapping buried infrastructure.
This survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Please complete the survey by COB 9/22/2023."
