Ozone is looking for a Survey Party Chief with experience and enthusiasm to join our team!
Location: Corona, CA, US
Primary Job Responsibilities:
The party chief efficiently organizes and maintains a field survey crew to complete project tasks. Accurately calculates and records field data. Reviews job specifications, plans fieldwork methods and manages time to coincide with budgets. Also, may involve some related duties in the office when needed.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Adhere to established company policies, follow all survey service line procedures and assure that the crew follows standard procedures. Perform field survey activities in accordance with standards set by the state.
• Assure field crew adheres to procedures in the safety manual and uses all personal safety equipment provided.
• Plan daily activities considering possible multiple projects to meet productivity goals set by Project Managers.
• Supervise crew-level vehicle and equipment inventory, loading and maintenance. Make timely requests for external equipment, procedural changes, new equipment purchases and vehicle maintenance to the Group Leader.
• Supervise the crew’s use of equipment, preparation of sketches and notes, laser scanning collection, GPS and conventional data and other electronic data collection.
• Communicate with the entire crew and office staff about all aspects of the project.
• Work without direct day-to-day supervision and make technical and supervisory decisions for projects assigned within specified limits of authority.
• Supervise daily data downloading and processing.
• Supervise double-angle sets, repetitions, acceptable tolerance and modern field survey practices.
• Prepare daily time sheets, data logs, expense reports and field change orders.
• Provide input to Project Manager (Field Supervisor) and Group Leader for the formal performance evaluation of crew members.
• Participate in survey department and field crew training.
• Some travel is required.
Job Requirements
• Minimum of a high school diploma is required.
• Land Surveyor In Training (LSIT) certificate preferred.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience working on a survey field crew.
• Must have extensive knowledge with Trimble field equipment and Trimble office software.
• Experience with Robotics, GPS and Total Station
• Experience setting horizontal and vertical control
• Experience with construction staking and ability to communicate with construction crews/contractors
• Experience performing Boundary Surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Topographic Mapping
• Demonstrated mathematical and analytical skills along with the ability to learn new technologies
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to train other survey and/or field personnel
• Self-motivated with good time management and ability to work with clients and staff
• Willingness to work remotely, without physically reporting to the office each day and able to work independently or as a • leader of a survey crew
• Flexible with changing schedules and workload demands
• Willing to work outdoors in changing weather conditions
• Excellent team player with good communication and problem-solving skills
• Must have a valid California driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee may be asked to walk on uneven surfaces, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, hike up and down steep slopes carrying up to 50 pounds of survey equipment, bend, squat, dig monument holes, pound in stakes and rebar and other material monuments, carry and use brush cutting equipment, drive a four‐wheeler or other vehicle, climb stairs, sit for extended periods of time, Bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time, work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time, type/key‐in data, and answer telephones frequently as needed. The employee will be required to adhere to the company’s policies, safety plan and project safety plans.
Preferred but not Necessary:
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in surveying, civil engineering, or related field
• Experience with computer drafting programs such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit
• Photogrammetry knowledge and experience
• Working knowledge of LiDAR Scanning Equipment
• GPR / Subsurface Utility Detection knowledge and experience[/list]
