Witness Testimony Fees

I was reading through a deposition where the deposed was called as a lay witness, but he/she was actually providing expert testimony mixed in with the lay testimony.

Expert witness testimony fees are laid out in CCP 2034.430. It is worth a look.

Lay witnesses are entitled to fees as well per CCP 2020.23, but limited to the peanuts offered in Gov Code 68093.

Regardless, a professional going out of their way, to spend their valuable time assisting the court, is entitled to their appropriate compensation.

Don't play into the lay witness reindeer games.
