On September 11, 2025 at 4:38 pm the Azimuth of Sun was exactly the same as the Hetch Hetchy lines running through my area.

Only a land surveyor would notice that.
Cool!

And only a surveyor would appreciate the synergy! I could only really post it here.
It only worked on the SE tower line because the side arms on the towers are the same length.
On the NW tower line the arms are staggered. I always wondered why the two different types of towers.
Lately Hetch Hetchy has been reinforcing the foundations of the SE towers, you can see the new surface slabs on the tower right in front of me.
Hetch Hetchy runs 14.3 miles on that same bearing through my county.
Phil, that R/S 92-135 is quite impressive! I remember a thread about it on this forum (or maybe RPLS) and discussing/decoding the Morse code around the edge.

Scott . . . you are too kind.
Thanks for sharing more details! 14.3 miles of straight! (and on 9/11 tah boot!)
That map was done when there was little to no work. So instead of going to the bar and crying in my beer I whipped out my crow-quills and rapidograph pens and went to work. His marriage proposal is in the Basis of Bearings.
Now you might think Crazy Phil is fluent in French - PAS! I was taking adult ed French and had my French teacher interpret that for the map. Side story: I took French in high school and was a miserable student. So much so, that Messieur Boland said he'd give me a "D" if I promised not to take his class again. I took him flying to seal the deal. LOL
It was a labor of love for my old classmate. We were both in Valley of the Moon Fire Protection District. He a paid fireman & I a volunteer. (Have I a story on Juanita Monson's last fire at her Fetters Hot Springs restaurant!)
