Let me add a thank you to Brian Christensen for sending in his two tags.
One from CA and one from NV. He is the first to send in dual tags, and the first Nevada PLS tag we have received. Since the Mt. Diablo Meridian does cover all of Nevada, this is much appreciated.

Thanks again and keep the tags coming!!!

Well it is a new year and Conferences are right around the corner, starting this Friday January 25, 2013.

Are you attending the upcoming CSU Fresno Conference? Have you donated one of your 3/4" brass tags to the Mount Diablo Surveyors Historical Society brass tag collection?

We would truly enjoy your donation of a brass tag to add to our collection. Please consider stopping by our booth while attending the CSU Fresno Conference to see what we have going on and donate one of your brass tags.

If your not attending the Fresno Conference, you can mail one to me, and it will make it into our collection.

Thank you,

So it has been 15 years since this was last brought up to the top of the CLSA Forum! It is now 2026 and we still have a collection of brass tags.

We are in the works to construct a post for you to add Your Tag to the collection. If you have not donated a 3/4" tag or 1 1/2" washer and would like to, please make note and bring it with you to the 2026 CSU Fresno Geomatics Conference later this month. Stop by our booth and donate, thanks!

Great idea Phil, thanks! That said, I have attached the 2026 Membership/Renewal Form for all to download.
FYI, MDSHS.org is an old system so there is no direct link to open the pages. To open, simply right click and open in a new link.
We are in the early works to revise and create a new website, but it isn't going to happen overnight.

A big thank you goes out to Michael Quartarolis (LS 4450) for mailing a 3/4" brass tag to MDSHS, and it will be added to the collection.

So after 15+ years when Michael Foley, CLSA & MDSHS Member, came up with the concept to display tags, we have something to show for with over 100+ tags collected and donated thus far. We are continuously collecting, and hopefully you feel the need to become a member of the MDSHS too. We truly appreciate those who mail a membership form with dues, and get your tag added to the MDSHS IP Post.

For those curious why the top is white? The white portion is reserved for MDSHS Life Members, with plenty of space for your tag too!

Where is the post located? Is it reasonably well-protected from vandals? There are a lot of shiny objects on it that might tempt someone inclined toward collecting interesting trinkets.

Thanks for the input Jim. It currently (and was intended) to be a conversation piece at various survey conferences we could easily transport to, in hopes to show some of the FUN (historical) side of being a member of MDSHS. We could look for a good permanent (protected) home, for future surveyors to visit and attach their tag to? Davis is a pretty centrally geographic location, and on the rooftop at 609 A Street in Davis sounds like a great secure location, heheheee!

Thanks again,

Looking more closely at the photo, I now see that the post is mounted in a portable stand. I initially thought it was planted permanently in the ground, thus my question.
