PR Opportunity With Capital Public Radio

Post by Sunburned_Surveyor »

I contacted Capital Public Radio yesterday and asked about having a topic on Land Surveying hosted on the show "Insight". The host of Insight responded and said he would like to learn more.

I think this may be a great opportunity to get some free public relations and marketing for the profession, at least in the Central Valley.

I mentioned to the host of Insight that we could answer and discuss the following questions:

What do land surveyors do?
How does land surveying impact the economic development and well being of the California Central Valley?
How does land surveying impact members of the public and how do they benefit from the services that land surveyors provide?
How would a person interested in land surveying as a career learn more about becoming involved in the profession?

He has asked for answers to these questions in writing so he can consider the topic for his show. I'm going to take a stab at this after the test, but I don't want to royally muck up what could be a golden opportunity for the profession.

Do we have someone that would be willing to review my written answers to the above questions? Would we have an official rep of the CLSA that would be willing to appear on the show? I could go, but I thought it would be much better to have a more experienced land surveyor appear.

I would be willing to help coordinate the topic with Capital Public Radio if we found an experienced land surveyor that would be a willing guest.

Let me know what you guys think. If I don't hear anything I will appeal to the guys at my local CLSA chapter for assistance.

Contact the CLSA Central Office. They may have some resources and guidance for you and may even know of a CLSA officer or a surveyor local to your area who can and is willing to make a good presentation.
