I suggest you take the Transportation Surveyor exam at Caltrans.

Ignore the news about any hiring freeze. You may get hired anyway. District 10's office is in Stockton.

When you fill out the application, pull the text right out of the Classification Specification. I mean pull out the text that describes your training and experience accurately. What I'm saying is use their words, not yours. Be honest but use their words.

TS Exam

Is it true that they don't alow you to use your own HP 33s? And does anybody know how many questions is in the exam they said on letter one hour for the exam?

24 questions plus or minus, and you can not use your calculator, they supply one.

What kind of questions? More like on LSIT exam or like National?
