Wanted To Buy: Trimble 5600 Robotic

Post by Jim Frame »

I'm interested in buying a robotic total station suitable for occasional 1-man use. Since I won't be using it full-time -- initially it'll serve as a backup system while I evaluate its suitability for use in my practice -- I've decided to look for a used gun, and would like to avoid the dealer markup.

While each of the major manufacturer robots has advantages and disadvantages, my research to date has me leaning toward an older Geodimeter/Trimble. I'm more familiar with Trimblese than Geodimeter-speak, so that's what I've used below.

I'm looking for a 5601 or 5603 in good operating condition, preferably a DR200. However, I'll consider other EDM flavors. I plan to use it with a DC50 data collector, which I believe requires the ACU for robotic initialization (not sure about that). Other accessories necessary for robotic operation would be a plus, but I figure I can buy those separately if need be.

If you know of anyone interested in parting with such a gun for a reasonable price, I'd be grateful if you'd put them in touch with me.

Thanks!

I settled for a Geodimeter 610 Pro, which I took possession of today. A bit long in the tooth and no reflectorless, but the price was right. I have to pick up a few more hardware bits to get up and running, but it should give me a pretty good feel for the role of one-man field work in my business model.

good gun for a solo. I got the 650 robot in 1998. Great shooter. Solo surveying is not likie the photos. Good Luck.

Trimble 5603 dr200

Post by Gromatici »

We have a Trimble 5603 dr200 we aren't using since the downturn. We're thinking of selling it. Give me a call or shoot me an email. I used it personally a few months ago, and it works. I can send some pictures and what not but I'm out in the field today and will need a few days to get it together schedule wise.
