CA State Lands Commission/Asst Boundary Determination Officer

To all the wise men on this board. I have an interview for this position in two weeks in Sacramento. What should I expect? Construction surveyor for 15 years, mainly buildings construction, but only couple of years with boundaries and deed/titles. LSIT #7640, Just finished Survey/Mapping program at Santiago Canyon College, (GREAT PROGRAM btw) and a little apprehensive about what they're expecting. Are they seeking asst to learn the ropes, or expecting LS level person to jump right in? (Won't be me then!!) Thank you in advance.

Most likely they are looking for someone with a Survey background who is willing and able to learn their way of doing things, someone who brings a positive attitude to the work.

As a tip, I would say study up on your water boundary analysis skills. I believe that they recognize that most Surveyors do not get lots of opportunity to work on difficult water boundary surveys, but since it is a large portion of the State Lands workload, they are bound to ask some questions on water boundaries. Be prepared to answer some basic knowlege questions regarding water boundaries.

Don't know if CA State Lands deals with the boundaries along the coast, but if they do, it may be helpful.
