USGS report on recent San Joaquin subsidence published today

The USGS Sacramento utilized InSAR, ground-water-level, and extensometer data to update the documentation of the magnitude and location of land subsidence occurring along the Delta Mendota Canal, in northern San Joaquin Valley, 2003-10. The Scientific Investigations Report (SIR) is released today.

No new data for the SJV has been published for 30 years, so these data document that subsidence is not only continuing since then, but recently has been occurring at faster rates in the past decade.

Thanks for the post Marti. We are still conducting surveys of portions of the SJR. I don't know if this will have an impact on our work or not (horizontal locations of the low and high water marks), but it can't hurt to be informed.
