Senior Survey Technician
The senior survey technician works directly with the Survey Project Manager on various natural gas pipeline and valve projects throughout southern and central California. They will be responsible for completing various tasks in support of surveying, mapping, utility mapping and research, legal descriptions, pot-holing, aerial mapping and GIS mapping for the execution of the Sempra Energy 10 year Pipeline Safety Enhancement Plan (PSEP). The senior survey technician will be part of the PSEP Project Management Organization (PMO) working directly with the Southern California Gas Company and San Diego Gas and Electric Company.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Interpret field notes and sketches, assist in downloading and processing conventional and GPS data using Trimble Business Center or similar software.
• Research boundary and easement title documents and provide preliminary boundary analysis.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D and knowledge of Microstation software to produce detailed boundary surveys, topographic surveys, plat maps, records of survey, as-built drawings and other various survey related maps or exhibits.
• Prepare legal descriptions and exhibits for boundaries, easements, acquisition parcels, etc.

Training and Experience
• Bachelors in a surveying or engineering is preferred
• Land Surveyor In Training LSIT is required
• Minimum 4 years experience as a Survey Technician or equivalent post-secondary (college level) surveying and/or related engineering education is required
• 2 years’ experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is required
• 1 year experience with Trimble Business Center is preferred.
• Project experience with public utilities, energy services, and transportation is preferred.
• Must be willing to travel, both locally and nationally

Salary is commensurate on years of qualifying experience, education, and qualifications. Position may pay up to $28 - $43 per hour. Final hourly rate is subject to change and will be determined by approved billing classification via written notice by client. Applicants MUST meet all REQUIRED experience and education requirements.
