Anybody have the lowdown on how to get maps in NAPA County?

They have a GIS site that will list all the recorded maps in an area, plus corner records. But, Courthouse Direct doesn't have any of the maps available for download.

Plus, WTF! Napa County charges $1100 for the review of a R/S.

So who files them? Nobody? Perhaps.

Did they lower their prices lately? Pretty sure it cost 1500 bucks a few years ago when I submitted one.

Wow, that's outrageous for an ROS. That's just wrong! That will not encourage compliance with the PLS Act.

To answer your question, I've never done any research in that County, so I don't know.

Greed and platinum pension programs to pay for.
What I hate is the hourly rate no cap, in this time of slow work for them and us the check prints just keep coming back and coming back racking up the fees.

That's what I've been seeing a lot of in Imperial County: most surveys that would require a record of survey are cost prohibitive to Mr. John Q. Public. I recently forwarded an invoice to the Client for $1,623.84 for the County's review of a 3 sheet ROS. "Reasonable fee" per 8766.5? In the County with the lowest income and the highest unemployment rate?

Hmmm, I wonder why there is an increased sign of unlicensed activity around here?

Every time the economy goes downhill first affected is the const industry. Local agencies see a reduction in revenue so they start inventing new fees and raising others and hire more cops to enforce any little infraction, like no front plate, to increase revenue.

To govt the citizens are a bottomless pit of money.
To Quote Gavin Newsom "CA does not have a budget problem, we have unlimited taxing authority." Sounds like the sheriff of Nottingham.

The newest State income program is $500 fines for illegal use of water. BTW out of work surveyors might want to look into getting hired as a water cop.

If the State and local govts had done their jobs and required more storm water retention basins, Central coast was doing this in the 1980s, we might not have a water shortage. As it is all rivers in the LA basin are concrete, exc the Santa Ana, so 95% of our storm water goes directly into the ocean. Wonder where all that water bond money went.

The Napa County recorder has a draw down account system for on line maps. You need to either call of visit their office to setup your personal account with a deposit. They will give you a user name and pw to access the online maps through their website.
