WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING a SURVEY TECHNICIAN for our SAN LUIS OBISPO office. San Luis Obispo is on the beautiful central coast of California, has scenic beaches, is surrounded by the wine country, and offers endless recreational opportunities.
SURVEY PROJECTS INCLUDE Roads and Utility Infrastructure for Public Agencies * Oil and Gas Production Facilities * Refineries * Pipelines * Solar Power Generation * Water Treatment Facilities * Industrial Process Plants * Commercial and Residential Developments * Schools, Universities, and Institutional Facilities * Military Base Facilities and Housing.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE performing field and office surveying tasks, supervising junior survey field crew members and office staff, coordinating survey requests with clients, assisting in preparing scope of work and cost estimates, and performing QA/QC reviews of survey data.
Under the general supervision of the Survey Project Manager, the Survey Technician will serve as a Survey Party Chief, supervising field crew operations and will perform related field and office duties for boundary surveying, topographic mapping, ALTA surveys, tentative, parcel and tract mapping, and construction staking. They may also be assigned survey office duties performing research and calculations, CAD drafting for maps and records of survey, and assisting in preparing proposals and cost estimates. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• 5-years general field surveying experience that includes serving as survey party chief for performing boundary, topographic and construction surveys; OR 3-years experience with a 2-year formal education in the surveying or engineering field.
• Competent in surveying principles and theory, field surveying methods and procedures, and error checking.
• Familiarity with geometric and trigonometry principles.
• Strong working knowledge and experience setting up, operating and maintaining robotic total stations, data collectors, and GPS equipment.
• Proficiency using AutoCAD and working knowledge of Civil 3D software and field-to-finish point and line descriptor field coding.
• California Driver’s license, proof of valid auto insurance and a clean driving record. Note: This will be verified.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE SKILLS (Not Required)
• Land Surveyor in Training Certificate (LSIT).
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or related field.
• Completed courses in geometry and trigonometry.
