Survey Technician
Under general supervision of the Project Surveyor, Survey Technician is responsible for executing routine field and office surveying tasks.
Job Duties
• Works closely with teammates in other work groups to gain understanding of project requirements.
• Conducts research and reconnaissance in the preparation of surveys
• Assists in performing office and field survey calculations.
• Interprets survey maps and construction drawings.
• Drafts topographic maps and 3-D surfaces from field survey notes and data.
• Works as a member of a one or two person survey party in the field.
• Performs field duties such as: cleaning and maintenance of equipment and vehicles, setting up equipment, setting survey stakes, monument exploration.
• Possesses working knowledge of CAD (Civil 3D and Microstation) and Trimble Business Center.
• Familiar with the Land Surveyor’s Act and Subdivision Map Act.
Minimum Qualifications: Possession of Land Surveyor-in-Training Certificate (or the ability to acquire one within one year. Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in geometrics or a closely related field. Four years of qualifying experience or an associate’s degree with major coursework in geometrics or a closely related field and two years of qualifying experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Hourly salary range is $20 - $35.
