Wood Rodgers, Inc., has an immediate need for licensed PLS candidates to interview for a career position in our Survey & Mapping department in our Sacramento headquarters. This position will perform work under limited direction to complete various duties associated with land surveying projects, such as Boundary Surveys, ALTA Surveys, Records of Survey, Parcel Maps, Final Maps, Topographic Surveys, Construction Staking Calculations, plats, and easement documents for a wide range of projects and clients. Responsible for project management and direction of assigned technical staff. Duties may include client and business development activities. This is an inside, non-field position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Schedule survey projects and monitor completion.
• Instruct survey crews for field work needed.
• Prepare detailed drawings from sketches, plans, specifications, and written and verbal instructions using civil, survey and computer aided drafting programs (i.e., AutoCAD Civil 3D).
• Interpret field notes and sketches.
• Perform various computations including closure, precision, and calculations for boundary surveys, construction staking, plats, easements, etc.
• Use AutoCAD software to assist in production of detailed topographic surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, Record of Surveys, Parcel Maps, Final Maps, and other various survey related documents.
• Prepare legal descriptions and exhibits for parcel and easement acquisition.
• Compile land title information from title reports and records research.
• Process conventional and GPS data using Trimble Business Center or similar software.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Certification:
• High School diploma, or equivalent, is required
• Bachelor’s degree in surveying is preferred
• Current California Professional Land Surveyor License is required
• Minimum of five years of relevant work experience
• Survey field experience is preferred

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Must have knowledge of boundary and legal principals
• Must be proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• ESRI Geographic Information System (GIS) experience is preferred
• Project experience with land development is preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects and prepare proposals, scope of work and budget estimates
