Current positions are located at Department of Public Works, Bureau of Street and Mapping (BSM) and at the San Francisco Public Utilities, Water Supply & Treatment (WST). The eligible list resulting from this examination may be utilized for future positions in the same class in other City departments.

Position Description and Essential Functions:
Under supervision, the Survey Assistant I performs paraprofessional surveying work in the office or field. Essential functions include: following established surveying methods and procedures such as measuring horizontal and vertical distances to the order of accuracy and precision required using electronic and other surveying equipment; serving as a chainperson and a rodperson; acting as a recorder to the survey party; reducing and checking field survey notes, including sketches; clearing brush and other obstacles in survey lines; cleaning and maintaining surveying tools; using personal computers and survey-related software applications such as AutoCad and/or other survey related software applications; and recording document interpretation related to maps and deeds. Performs other related duties as required.
