Primary Job Duties

The Survey Technician I/II will support the County Surveyor's Division of the Transportation Department. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing, interpreting and preparing legal property maps and descriptions, and will also be tasked to review and evaluate various land development applications such as Lot Line Adjustments, Mergers and subdivisions. Additionally, the Survey Technician I/II will support a field survey crew on a variety of construction, preliminary and boundary survey projects, operating an assortment of survey instruments and programs. The Division desires candidates with knowledge of the land development and land surveying process, and experience performing survey and property record research. Candidates in possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) or an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) are highly desired.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Two years of sub-professional civil engineering experience.

OR

College level courses in civil engineering or closely related subjects may substitute for the required experience on the basis of 12 semester/18 quarter units equaling one year of experience

OR

Possession of a valid certificate of registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Land-Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT).

License: A valid California Drivers License is required.
