SUPERVISING LAND SURVEYOR
$9,614.80 - $12,304.93 Monthly
This position supervises a team of professional land surveyors within the Land Surveying and Mapping Unit. The team is responsible for field surveying and/or right-of-way surveying support work. To supervise and participate in professional land surveying work in field surveying and/or right-of-way surveying support work; and to perform related work as required.
The Land Surveying and Mapping Unit through competent, innovative, dedicated, and well-trained staff; provides professional land surveying and mapping services in support of planning, design, construction, and maintenance of District water resource facilities.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Plan, schedule, assign, monitor and evaluate the work of staff engaged in field surveying and right-of-way plats and descriptions; provide training and technical support to assigned staff.
• Administer consultant and professional services contracts; prepare and review contract documents and monitor the work of such contractors.
• Conduct field reviews; analyze, resolve and act on problems requiring immediate action such as construction staking projects, deed, map and right-of-way conflicts.
• Prepare time and cost estimates of assigned work responsibilities for various projects.
• Supervising Land Surveyors sign and seal official documents on behalf of the Land Surveying and Mapping Unit Manager.
• Review construction plans to assure complete right-of-way and survey information.
Experience:
Five years of increasingly responsible experience in performing engineering survey work in either a field or office environment, including two years of functional or technical lead work.
Training:
Completion of two years of college in a pre-engineering or related curriculum (civil engineering) or completion of a specialized surveying curriculum.
License or Certificate:
Possession of a Professional Land Surveyor license issued by the State of California is desirable. The minimum qualifications for this position typically require incumbent to possess a Professional Land Surveyor license issued by the State of California. For this recruitment, applicants without this license can be appointed with the requirement that the license will be required one year from date of appointment.
