Interesting picture
This school was located in San Diego near the International Boundary. I can't help but think about how many surveyors could have benefited if they went there!

"Monument School". I love it. That's a good one Mike!
It's left to our imaginations to surmise what goes on in there.
First crack at what the syllabus might look like:
Monuments, old and new. Stones, mounds and pits, & bearing trees to brass caps in street wells.
Durability.
When it is just a goat stake?
Set plenty and record them.
Durability.
Search diligently for them. Then look again.
Durability.
Protect them. At all cost.
Final exam, repeat 500 times- "monuments are important...."

I attended “Meridian” elementary school. It was named that because it is located on the San Bernardino meridian. I was destined to be a land surveyor from a very early age, I just did not know it.

My Step-Dad grew up in Nestor. His family had a farm in the area. He is 87 years young and remembers this school. By the way, he started his professional career on a survey crew for San Diego Water. Retired as one of the better hillside subdivision design engineers in the East Bay.

Great photo Mike.
That bluff in the background, is it the one to the East of Interstate 5 at the San Ysidro border crossing?
