San Andreas Fault & Legal Boundaries?

Good afternoon I am a Land Surveyor from Canada and I am interested in the effect of the San Andreas Fault displacement and legal boundaries.

Essentially I am curious in regards to the situation where a surveyed boundary straddles the fault line. Would the boundary moves (IE the boundary remains between the two monuments even though the monuments are moving relative to one another) or does it remain as it was originally surveyed with a deflection at the fault line?
