Orange County Chapter
What is with those people in the Orange County Chapter?
Are they just out to cause trouble, or they ready to jump in the fray to defend themselves, their Chapter, their President, and the State CLSA when they spot injustice?
Maybe you should find out and decide for yourself.

Be more specific please
Many will have no idea what you are referring to, so could you please be more specific? Perhaps I am mistaken in thinking that CLSA has at it roots democratic principles, including the freedom to speak and debate the merits of an issue.

Generally, I'm speaking of abuse of power by those who are terrified of opposing viewpoints which just might threaten their positions of authority.

Where did my post go?
Anyway it looks like there was a motion to kick Dave Woolley out if Clsa, at least as a director. The minutes posted in the witness corner by Padilla didn't give the reasonss for removal, but the vote toget rid of woolley narrowly was defeated.
I know the guy and he seems reasonable enough to me. Woolley is an advocate for the surveying community, IMHO, and I hope he sticks around volunteering his time and efforts on my behalf.

I don't know the details but the State Board is a quasi govt entity and, as happened to Evan and the testing committee, if your opinion does not coincide with theirs you are not welcome.
IMO the board meetings should be open to anyone who wants to attend and like city council meetings there should be a agenda printed available to anyone and adhered to. A public comment period should be scheduled at the beginning of the meeting and anyone allowed to comment whether a LS or not and whether a member of CLSA or not as the boards decisions can affect anyone in the profession.
I have a real issue with elected politicians that sit on a committee that makes decisions that affect me but refuse my email because I am not in their district. FYI I just use their base office address :)

To fully fund govt first the national debt would have to be paid. The US Govt is $18 TRILLION in debt, using 350 million people in the USA it would require $51,000 from every man, woman and child to pay it off. And that's just the Federal debt. Did you write your check yet?

On another note. The moonbeam express to nowhere is a colossal waste of taxpayers money. Who wants to travel between Sac and LA anyway. This XX mile section they plan to build between 2 farm towns is just insane.
Private industry has wanted to build a HSR between LA and Vegas, a much better idea, and after over 20 years of investigation by various groups none have found it to be a profitable venture.
The plan to build the moonbeam express should be filed right next to the hwy 39 fwy and 57 fwy extension to the 405 of the 1970's. moonbeam killed both of those and others his first time around.

The last time I was a Chapter Rep./Director the Board Meeting was open to anyone interested in attending as a "Guest". They did not need to be invited, but you needed to RSVP to Central Office so that they could count you for lunch. The Executive Board Meeting the day before I believe is a closed door, so not sure which meeting you are referring too?land butcher wrote: IMO the board meetings should be open to anyone who wants to attend and like city council meetings there should be a agenda printed available to anyone and adhered to. Luckily I am local to the meeting location and have always preached to other local members to spend a Saturday and attend so that you can get educated on what takes place at a Board Meeting. They are very educational to see how your CLSA operates.

I haven't participated in development or grading for the past 3 or 4 years but didn't realize I was kicked off. Are you aware of something I'm not? Did I get excommunicated and not know it?
Or are you thinking of the ad hoc committee formed to give comment on proposed format changes? That group met once. None of us were brought back, as far as I know, as a follow up or to advise further. I completed one more grading cycle of the (old format) exam and had some minimal involvement with question development after that as well.

It would be the ad hoc committee then.
