OC Survey has a vacancy for an Administrative Manager II who will provide management and supervisory oversight for the Map Checking and Right-of-Way Services sub-unit within OC Survey. This position requires advanced technical and managerial skills to support the technical staff for the review and approval of all subdivisions, Records of Survey's, and Right-of-Way acquisitions and dispositions for the County. The candidate will serve as Deputy County Surveyor, and will continually monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assess and monitor work load balancing and internal organizational reporting relationships; and identify opportunities for improvement and review with the County Surveyor to implement improvements. The position will also proactively monitor and solicit feedback on services provided to ensure quality customer care, keeping a high level of employee morale and efficiency within the Service Area.


Technical Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, GIS Sciences, or Civil Engineering and five (5) or more years working with business partners, delivering services to internal and external customers, and supervising professional and technical staff OR an Associate's degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, GIS Sciences, or Civil Engineering and seven (7) or more years working with business partners, delivering services to internal and external customers, and supervising professional and technical staff. In addition to the competencies listed in the job specification, the ideal candidate will possess the following job-related technical knowledge:
  • Fundamental knowledge of the Subdivision Map Act and Professional Land Surveyor's Act
  • Fundamental understanding of managing and mentoring technical and professional staff
  • Fundamental knowledge of Right-of-Way best practices
  • Fundamental understanding of survey project management
  • Fundamental understanding of Boundary analysis and topographic mapping
  • Knowledge of GIS, advanced AutoCAD applications, sharepoint integrations, Civil 3D, and ESRI integration
